The kids and I were alone last week while Dustin took the boys golf team on an overnight trip for district. It happened to be on a Monday night, and Mondays are usually hard for me anyway because of Southern's late evening religion class throwing our schedules off. It was even harder as a single parent of these three little guys. So when Dustin announced that one high school boy was advancing to regionals and they would be gone two nights this week, I decided that we should tag along! And it just so happened that the assistant coach was unable to attend so we didn't even have to rent an extra hotel room! We had fun. It was hard being in the cramped hotel room alone with the boys trying to keep them occupied, so we spent most of our days while Dustin was at the golf course out on the town exploring Kerrville.
We visited the local library, explored the nature center, walked along the river, threw rocks into the water, helped a local naturalist plant wildflower seeds, watched wildlife, ran and walked a lot, went out to eat, visited three different playgrounds, and on our last day there we even visited Daddy at the golf course and Southern and Remington rode along in the cart for the last few holes. And on the way home, we stopped to go fishing. Unfortunately the weather prevented us from going swimming so Southern has requested that we return to that hotel one day to try out the pool.
