Southern's 2nd Beach Trip

We went to Port Aransas again this week. We had such a fun time with Carly and Parker earlier this summer that we all decided we should do it again before school started. Southern had a blast. Here he is posing in front of a souvenir shop in town. We stopped there on our way home to get him something to remember his trip. We ended up buying him a cute little beach-themed counting book, a shipwrecked treasure coin, and a little shark figurine for his bookcase.
This is us on Tuesday night right before we headed out to the pool - Southern's first dip in the pool!! We were all so excited, but I thought for sure he would cry as soon as we got him in the water. He proved me wrong though, he loved it. He was just quiet and looked around when we got him in. He was very calm, and after awhile he even started kicking like he was trying to swim. Dustin's already started talking about swimming lessons!

We had to wash that chlorine off of him!

My two little fisherman... so cute. Dustin can't wait until Southern's old enough to go out to the fishing pier with him.

It was a good trip. We'll be headed back in September with my mom's side of the family for our annual Port A trip. Can't wait!

Aidan's 2nd Birthday

We went to my friend's son's 2nd birthday party this past weekend.
Southern loved it. He couldn't get enough of all those crazy kids. He loved watching them and was trying to figure out what they were doing when they played the Wii. Aidan also had a good time. He's been around Southern a few times now and is getting more used to him.
He loves to "pet the baby".

Here are two cute little video clips of Southern in action. He loves to talk... make sure you have the sound turned up on your computer!
(For those of you who get this via email, you'll have to go to my blog's website to see the videos.)

15 Weeks Old

Southern turned 15 weeks old yesterday. Time sure is flying by! Fortunately, we'll be able to slow down and enjoy the summer more after this week. Dustin's last day of teaching summer school is this Thursday. Yay - we're excited to have Daddy home!

Here is a photo of Dustin and Southern during one of our late night grading marathon sessions. I definitely won't miss it!

15 lbs 11 oz

Southern has tipped the scales at 15 lbs, 11 oz. He's already almost 3 and a half months old and is growing fast. We went in for a free weight check at the hospital yesterday, and our lactation consultant was amazed. It's a good thing Dustin was with us because she didn't recognize me or Southern! The last time she saw us was when he was 4 days old. She was amazed... and so uplifting. She makes me tear up every time we see her! She's just so positive and complimentary. She kept telling me how much of an amazng gift I am giving to our son, how much weight I had lost, how good I looked, etc. I want to go visit her every day!!! haha

We had Dustin's granny visit us that day as well. We made a trip to Target with her to get some diapers and printer ink then came home so Dustin could print some pictures of Southern with his printer for her. She got to hang out with Southern and do "floor exercises" on him! haha She would lay him down and tell him to push her hand with his feet. It was so sweet watching them. I wish we lived a little closer to Yoakum so we could see family more often, but there's just no way Dustin could make as much money, we could live in as big of a house, etc. Well luckily we're not so far away to make day trips a pain. Maybe one day we'll move back - when we win the lottery!! haha Oops, guess that means we need to start buying lottery tickets!

3 Months Old

My little man is getting so big! I can hardly believe how quickly he is growing. He's already in size 3 diapers. What's next? Getting his driver's license?!? :(

Southern's been a little more drooly and fussy lately so I think teething is on the horizon. He hasn't been sucking well on his bottle lately either. He won't eat much from it. He's still eating like crazy when I breastfeed though. Now we only give a bottle when we have company or are out of the house. So maybe he just got used to breastfeeding (the milk comes out faster that way)? Or maybe teething has something to do with it? I recently bought the next size nipple so we'll try that and see how it goes.

Uh oh... I hear him waking up. I'll make this short - here's a few pics from the past couple weeks.

Southern and Mommy laying in bed.

Southern loves when his daddy gives him a bath.

He's thinking, "Alright, enough pictures already!!"
